Professor Ron Toomey

Professor Toomey has held numerous positions within education – Secondary school teacher; State Education authority curriculum developer; educational administrator within the Victorian HSC examinations’
authority; a university academic in a number of Australian education faculties; and Foundation Head of the College of Education at Victoria University.

When Professor Toomey retired from the position of Foundation Head, he was appointed to Adjunct Professor positions at LaTrobeUniversity, the Australian Catholic University and the University of Newcastle. In these roles, he worked
on several national projects in the areas of values education, a field in which he has worked since the 1970s.

He is currently working with colleagues from James Madison University in Virginia on a five-year long project sponsored by the International Beliefs and Values Institute titled ‘Creating the Globally Sustainable Self’.
