 Theme: Human values in Higher Education as a Pathway to Nurturing Better Citizens of the World

Session Goal: The session will examine the constitutional values as presented in the NEP 2020, as a means to establishing an internal value system among students. A deeper assessment of the values will then look at connecting the roots of our indigenous wisdom with innovation of the modern science/innovations, which can lead to sustainable solutions to current problems and work towards fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The panellists will also discuss practical ways to instil social responsibility in students, through public-private partnerships between the government, institutions and society.

 Theme: Values-Based Medical Education: Bringing Compassion to the Health Care System

Session Goal: The session aims to explore the critical role of values-based medical education in cultivating compassion within the healthcare system. Through thought-provoking discussions, case studies, and interactive exercises, this session aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the importance of compassion in medical practice. The session seeks to inspire and equip medical educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to foster a culture of compassion among future healthcare professionals, ultimately improving the patient experience and transforming the healthcare system into one that prioritizes empathy and humanity.

Technical Session 6

 1 Minute Mindfulness Video

 Theme: Addressing Mental Health in Students

Session Goal: This session aims to discuss methods of: raising awareness in students, teachers and parents to shatter the stigma surrounding mental health; empowering students, parents and teachers with resources, information, training, guidance and counselling; developing the value of compassion in teachers to attain personal wellbeing which can be implemented in the classroom to achieve general wellbeing. Various case studies from different countries will be exhibited and the different approaches to mental health in schools will be discussed.
